Re: Sanitary Sewer Fast Track Permit Application — Permit Modification
Westgate Lift Station Pump Replacement
South Lanvale Lift Station Flow Increase
Brunswick Regional Water and Sewer H2GO
Brunswick County, North Carolina
TWC No.3081-AP
Dear Reviewer:
On behalf of Brunswick Regional Water and Sewer H2GO, we are forwarding to you one (1)
original and one (1) copy of the following documents for your review and approval for each above
referenced project:
• Fast -Track Application (FTA 04-16)
• Project Narrative
• Current Wastewater Permit
Westgate LS: NCDEQ Permit No. W00017916
South Lanvale LS: NCDEQ Permit No. W00016854 (information sheet only)
• USGS Site Map
• Check No. 058392 in the amount of $480,00 to cover the permit application fee for the
Westgate LS Pump Replacement.
• Check No. 058393 in the amount of $480.00 to cover the permit application fee for the
South Lanvale LS Flow Increase.
The project narratives have more detail regarding the scope of this project and the reason for the
permit modification requests. Briefly, the Brunswick Regional Water and Sewer H2GO is
requesting for its permit for the Westgate Lift Station to be modified to have a permitted flow of
700 gallons per minute (GPM) and its permit for the South Lanvale Lift Station to be modified to
have a permitted flow of 250 GPM.
I trust the above information is sufficient for your review; however,
questions or need additional information, please do not hesitate to
919.828.0531 or by email at pgalan@thewootencompany.com.
Sincerely,
THE WOOTEN COMPANY
Peter W. Galan, P.E.

PROJECT NARRATIVE
WESTGATE LIFT STATION PUMP REPLACEMENT
BRUNSWICK REGIONAL WATER AND SEWER AUTHORITY
BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NORTH CAROLINA
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
This project proposes to replace existing pumps at the Westgate Lift Station, a lift station owned and
operated by Brunswick Regional H2GO. This lift station is located in the town of Belville in Brunswick
County, North Carolina. The area tributary to this lift station is expecting significant ftrture development,
and to be proactive H2GO is electing to upsize its pumps to meet this future demand. As such, the
permitted flow for this lift station needs to be increased.
The permit for this pump station was initially acquired in May 2000, as Permit No. W00017916. Permit
modifications were accepted in 2004, 2006, and 2019. The most recent modification brought the
permitted flow up to 445 gallons per minute (GPM) from its initially permitted flow of 300 GPM. Based
on the projected development in this area, the pumps are currently undersized for what flow this
development will bring. Accordingly, Brunswick Regional H2GO is requesting to increase the Westgate
Lift Station's permitted flow to 700 GPM. Note that this development is classified as future flow, so no
new wastewater is being generated by this project (questions 7 and 8 in section VI of the Fast Track
Sewer System Extension Application). Note also that the lift station will utilize the existing force main, so
no new force main is being installed as part of this project.
The table below compares the existing conditions to the proposed conditions upon permit modification
approval. No other operational changes are requested as a part of this permit modification. As stated
above, there will be no new flow or redirected flow associated with this project. The existing force main
will continue to be used to transmit flow.

Hey Dean,
This modification request is only for capacity and pump changes. H2GO would like the capacity to be
increased at present, so that when the time is right, they can install new pumps to match that increased
capacity. However, the force main will remain the same, as will all other infrastructure at the site. The only
physical modification is that to the pumps themselves.
This modification request is to supersede and void the previously approved (2019) expansion request.
Please let us know if you have any additional questions.
Thanks,

Gentlemen,
Is this a capacity expansion or a complete replacement with expansion?
Was the last expansion to 445-gpm approved on 10-11-2019 & designed by Wooten ever completed or is this new
request to supersede that approval voiding it?
Please advise.
