We regularly recommend that people wait to plan trees until the proper season. Please consider this email as confirmation that you may wait to plant the required trees until the fall/winter season. In the meantime please complete the stabilization work including temporary/permanent herbaceous seeding and being the visual monitoring of the site as required by the 401. I'm copying Samantha Dailey with the USACE who is currently covering Forsyth County in case she wants to weigh in. (Sam, I'm sorry I don't have the USACE Action ID for this project for you) Sue Homewood Division of Water Resources, Winston Salem Regional Office Department of Environmental Quality 336 776 9693 office 336 813 1863 mobile Sue.Homewood@ncdenr.gov 450 W. Do not click links or open attachments unless you verify. Send all suspicious email as an attachment to Report Spam. Sue: The wall and stream restoration project is nearing completion. The contractor is in the cleanup phase and stabilization. One question that came up regards the planting of live stakes as indicated on the approved plans. Logically, now is probably not a suitable time to install the live stakes as we are approaching June. The contractor would like to complete the bank and stream stabilization now and come back in the fall when the climate would be more desirable for the live stakes to become established. Would you mind let us know if that is allowable between NCDEQ and USACE? If this is the route taken, are there any requirements necessary to delay this planting? i Feel free to contact me to discuss further, if necessary.
