(Lat. 35.842083, Long. -78.701706). The foot bridge is situated between two aerial pipes that cross an unnamed tributary that flows to Crabtree Creek (12-digit HUC code 030202010803). Crabtree Creek (the receiving body of water) is a class C body of water and considered nutrient sensitive waters (NSW). Additionally, the receiving Crabtree Creek is listed on the 303-d impairment list for PCBs. Approximately 120 linear feet of streambank will be stabilized, 60 linear feet (LF) on the east side of the stream and 60 LF on the west side of the stream. The repair area is located within a 30-foot wide sanitary sewer easement. The sewer maintenance staff can access the site area by Crabtree Creek Greenway Trail Entrance (near 4300 Oak Park Rd.). The following activities are proposed at this location: • Erosion control measures and a dry work area will be established prior to work beginning. • The eroded area around and under the bridge will be filled with appropriate backfill material. • The streambank will be stabilized with rock/geotextiles. • All disturbed areas will be seeded and mulched upon completion of work. The total temporary stream disturbance associated with this work will be approximately 120 LF (60 LF on east side and 60 LF on the west side of the stream) and will be due to bank stabilization on both sides of the unknown tributary. The total temporary wetland impact associated with the work at Oak Park Rd will be approximately 0.05 acres (2,249 square feet [sqft]). The total temporary buffer impacts associated with this work at Oak Park Rd will be approximately: • 541 sqft. to riparian buffer zone 1 to the unknown tributary, • 363 sqft. to riparian buffer zone 1 to Crabtree Creek, and • 1,345 sqft. to riparian buffer zone 2 to Crabtree Creek. Governor Susi Hamilton, Secretary Walter Clark, Director, Land and Water Stewardship NCNHDE-13771 January 20, 2021 Charles Benton AECOM 1600 Perimeter Park Drive Morrisville, NC 27560 RE: Crabtree Creek Greenway Foot Bridge Repair. 60555248 Dear Charles Benton: The North Carolina Natural Heritage Program (NCNHP) appreciates the opportunity to provide information about natural heritage resources for the project referenced above. A query of the NCNHP database indicates that there are records for rare species, important natural communities, natural areas, and/or conservation/managed areas within the proposed project boundary. These results are presented in the attached `Documented Occurrences' tables and map. The attached `Potential Occurrences' table summarizes rare species and natural communities that have been documented within a one -mile radius of the property boundary. The proximity of these records suggests that these natural heritage elements may potentially be present in the project area if suitable habitat exists. Tables of natural areas and conservation/managed areas within a one -mile radius of the project area, if any, are also included in this report. If a Federally -listed species is documented within the project area or indicated within a one -mile radius of the project area, the NCNHP recommends contacting the US Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) for guidance. Contact information for USFWS offices in North Carolina is found here: https://www.fws.gov/offices/Directory/ListOffices.cfm?statecode=37. Please note that natural heritage element data are maintained for the purposes of conservation planning, project review, and scientific research, and are not intended for use as the primary criteria for regulatory decisions. Information provided by the NCNHP database may not be published without prior written notification to the NCNHP, and the NCNHP must be credited as an information source in these publications. Maps of NCNHP data may not be redistributed without permission. Also please note that the NC Natural Heritage Program may follow this letter with additional correspondence if a Dedicated Nature Preserve, Registered Heritage Area, Land and Water Fund easement, or an occurrence of a Federally -listed species is documented near the project area. If you have questions regarding the information provided in this letter or need additional assistance, please contact Rodney A. Butler at rodney.butler@ncdcr.gov or 919-707-8603.
