Re: Western Wake Freeway Temporary Impact Site #26, Wake County, WBS #35520.5.TA1,
TIP No. R- 2635C, Action ID No. 2007 - 02903 -292, DWQ Project No. 20071470
Mr. Ridings:
As you are aware, the Department has monitored the Western Wake Freeway Temporary Impact
Site #26 since construction was completed in 2012. The site is located in Wake County adjacent
to the I -540 Western Wake Freeway at approximately Sta. 672 +50. The 0.05 -acre site was
monitored for temporary wetland impacts associated with the R -2635C project. In accordance
with permit conditions, the area that was temporarily impacted must be monitored one year after
the temporary impact is finished to ensure that it re- attains jurisdictional wetland status;
hydrologic monitoring was not required for this project. After the 2012 growing season, an
annual monitoring report was submitted to the appropriate regulatory agencies via the Natural
Environment Section's (NES) website:
https: / /connect. ncdot. Qov /resources/ Environmental /Pages /Permits- and - Mitigation. gWx
After one year of vegetation monitoring, the Western Wake Freeway Temporary Impact Site #26
indicates that natural re- vegetation has occurred and the temporarily impacted area has re-
attained jurisdictional wetland status. Individual annual monitoring data is provided within the
monitoring reports available on NES's website for 2012:

During the annual monitoring meeting held on March 19th 2013, it was determined that the site
success criteria had been met and that no further monitoring would be required. NCDOT
requests that the appropriate resource agencies provide written documentation stating that no
further monitoring is required and that the site is closed. If you have any questions about this
project, please contact Mr. Randy Griffin at (919) 707 -6121.
