The Division of Water Resources (Division) received your sludge survey information on May
24, 2021. With the survey results, you requested an extension of the sludge survey requirement
for the lagoon at the Carlisle Farms facility. Due to the amount of treatment volume available,
and the rate of sludge accumulation for the lagoon, the Division agrees that a sludge survey is not
needed until December 31, of the year in which hogs return to the farm.
Normally, this would not be the case because the sludge level is greater than 50%. However,
since you have no hogs at present, a new sludge survey or a sludge removal plan of action is not
required until or if you return hogs to the farm. Please retain this letter and keep it with your
farm records for reference.
