On behalf of the City of Raleigh, please find enclosed for your review the following
items regarding the above referenced project. Please note that we do need written
concurrence for 401 approval; however, we are requesting riparian buffer rule approval
only.

This project proposes to construct approximately 463 linear feet (LF) of gravity sanitary
sewer ranging in size from 8 to 36 -inch diameter. The project corridor begins
approximately 350 feet southeast of the intersection of Hwy 70 (Glenwood Ave.) and
Lynn Rd. The project corridor generally traverses southwest across Hwy 70 (Glenwood
Ave.) and parallels Turkey Creek with the new gravity sewer.
There are no stream crossings in this project as all new gravity sewer will parallel Turkey
Creek. However, a small portion of the sewer will enter the Zone 2 stream buffer as
shown in the attached application package.

To improve sewer infrastructure in the Turkey Creek area by installing parallel sewer and abandoning existing sewer.

The project will construct approximately 463 LF total new DIP gravity sewer line. Approximately 82 LF of 36 -inch DIP
gravity sewer, 323 LF of 24 -inch DIP gravity sewer (130 LF being in 48 -inch steel encasement), and 58 LF of 8 -inch DIP
gravity sewer will be constructed. The project will abandon existing deteriorated sewer infrastructure and extend existing
sewer in two locations. Existing 24 -inch steel pipe gravity sewer will be abandoned and relocated with 24 -inch DIP and
24 -inch DIP in 48 -inch steel encasement. Existing 8 -inch sanitary sewer (on the HWY 70 W side) will be extended and
connected to the new relocated sewer. Existing 24 -inch forcemain sewer (on the HWY 70 E side) will be extended and
connected to the new 36 -inch gravity sewer. The project will prevent problems associated with the existing deteriorating
sewer infrastructure along Turkey Creek. Equipment used will include a track hoe excavator, rubber tire front end loader
and trucks.

6. SUPPORT EXISTING POLES, FENCES, CULVERTS, PAVEMENT, UTILITIES, CURBING AND OTHER STRUCTURES (INCLUDING
STORM DRAIN PIPE) DURING CONSTRUCTION. REPAIR DAMAGED ITEMS TO THEIR ORIGINAL CONDITION AT NO ADDITIONAL
COST.
7. SUPPORT EXISTING STORM DRAIN PIPES OR REMOVE AND REPLACE. IF REMOVING AND REPLACING, SUBMIT MEANS AND
METHOD TO ENGINEER PRIOR TO REMOVAL.
B. EXCAVATED MATERIAL SHALL NOT BE PLACED ON THE ROADWAYS AT ANYTIME.
9. ALL BYPASS PUMPS USED DURING CONSTRUCTION SHALL HAVE SOUND ATTENUATING EQUIPMENT TO REDUCE NOISE

TREE PROTECTION NOTES
1. TREE PROTECTION FENCING SHALL BE PROVIDED ALONG ALL CLEARING /CONSTRUCTION LIMITS OUTSIDE OF R /W. ALL
OPEN SPACE, PERIMETER BUFFERS AND OPEN SPACE THAT CONTAIN NATURAL FOREST AREA MUST REMAIN WOODED
AND FENCED OFF FROM ACTIVE DEVELOPMENT WITH TREE PROTECTION FENCING. SEE SHEET NO. 10 FOR FENCING
DETAIL.
2. TREE PROTECTION FENCING MUST BE INSTALLED AND INSPECTED PRIOR TO ANY GRADING ACTIVITY, INCLUDING THE
CLEARING FOR EROSION CONTROL MEASURES. THE INSTALLATION OF TREE PROTECTION FENCING SHALL BE THE
FIRST CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITY THAT OCCURS IN THE FIELD.
3. TREE PROTECTION FENCING SHALL BE MAINTAINED ON SITE UNTIL ALL WORK IS COMPLETED.
