Quick summary of public hearing held last night for combined 401 /NPDES permits for proposed Martin
Marietta Vanceboro Quarry:
Total attendance = 134 individuals, of which 22 spoke. Most speakers were against quarry discharge, a
few just raised questions, and no speakers in support of permit issuance. Hearing began at 7pm and
concluded at 8:22 pm. Overall a very smooth and non - confrontational event.
Winner of question as to whether Al Hodge will show up, and if so at what time..... goes to Tom Bel nick,
who predicted Hodge will show at 6:37 pm, and was off by 3 minutes.
