Good morning Jim 1 Just left you a voicemail regarding this project with a couple questions. 1. Wetlands note – to my knowledge the owner did not perform a wetland survey. I know there are none within our project limits but I’m not sure I have the qualifications to seal a statement as such as I’m not a wetlands scientist. How should we approach resolving this comment? The State doesn’t have requirements (aside from being a licensed engineer/surveyor/soil scientist/etc…) for an individual to make an on-site wetland determination. If you believe that, as a professional engineer, you are capable of making this determination for this site, you can (If not, you’ll have to have someone else who is qualified to come and do it). 2. Our storage volume on paper comes in 220cf short of 11,120 but the program doesn’t account for the water within the sand. Do we need to adjust to show 11,120 from top of sand surface to first by-pass? That is correct, you must show at least the design volume (11,120 cf) worth of storage between the top of the sand surface and the lowest sand filter bypass. 3. Our “level spreader” is a bit of a hybrid due to field conditions. We’re trying not to dump directly onto the neighbor by directing flow parallel with the property line but a true level spreader wouldn’t fit. Should we show rip rap and/or erosion calcs based on what we’re proposing. That’s very considerate. You’ll want to provide calculations showing that the flow from the pipe to the blind swale is non-erosive (This would be similar to a regular outfall/rip-rap sizing calculation) and the overtopping of the blind swale into the neighbor’s property is non-erosive (You can either calculate the overtopping velocity using the weir equation or use the methodology described in the Level Spreader-Filter Strip chapter of the Manual (Minimum of 10 linear feet of weir per cfs of discharge), use your best professional judgement). Let me know if you would like to have a phone conversation to discuss/go over any of these items in more depth.
