SUBJECT: Salisbury Station Second Platform (P-5726) 25% Design Review, Salisbury,
Rowan County, ER 18-3254

Thank you for your March 3, 2021, email concerning the above-referenced undertaking and submittal of
the 25% designs. We have reviewed the design and are pleased to see that NCDOT/Rails is developing
plans for a tunnel under the tracks rather than over. Given the level of design, our comments are limited to
noting that the design appears to eliminate the adverse effect of the over-the-rails option presented earlier.
Thus, we encourage further development and look forward to reviewing future plans.

The above comments are made pursuant to Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act and the
Advisory Council on Historic Preservation’s Regulations for Compliance with Section 106 codified at 36
CFR Part 800.
