PROJECT SUMMARY: The applicant proposes to attach a floating Personal Watercraft dock atop an existing boatlift for a total of 3 boat slips. David A. and Susan M. Jordan Downshore Road Beaufort County Project setting The project site is a single - family residential lot located off SR 1101 at 901 Down Shore Road on the Pamlico River near the Blounts Creek Community in Beaufort County, North Carolina. The lot is approximately 0.6 acres (28,160 ft2) in size and has approximately 95 linear feet of shoreline. Man- made features on the lot include a single - family residence, riprap revetment, 170' long pier with a f 14' by f 10' L -head platform, ±28' by f 14' (dripline) boathouse with lift, uncovered boatlift and a 10' by 8' deck over the riprap revetment. Water depth at the terminal end of the pier structure is approximately -4.5' below Normal Water Level. The existing number of slips is two. Landward of the existing riprap revetment the elevation gradually slopes upward to an approximate elevation of t6' above the normal water level. The lot is mostly vegetated with pines, mixed hardwoods, lawn grasses and ornamental shrubs. Both adjacent properties on the upstream (northwest) side and downstream (southeast) side are developed lots. A residence and riprap revetment are located on both adjacent properties. Both the adjacent properties are similarly vegetated with pines, mixed hardwoods, lawn grasses and ornamental shrubs. The Pamlico River is classified as SB NSW by the Environmental Management Commission at the project site. The Pamlico River at this location is designated Coastal Waters and is not open to shell fishing. Project description The applicant proposes to attached a f10' by ±12' floating Personal Watercraft (EZ dock) dock on top of the existing frame of the uncovered boatlift. The floating dock will provide docking for two PWC and will be able to be raised and lowered with the boatlift. The addition of the PWC dock attached to the boatlift frame will bring the total number of slips to three. The total platform impact excluding the existing pier will be 690ft2 and with 95' of shoreline the applicant is allowed a maximum of 760 ft2. Anticipated impacts The project will not result in localized turbidity because the floating dock will be attached to the existing boatlift. The expansion of the existing docking facility will result in 120 ft2 of additional shaded impact with a total River bottom shaded impact of 1,710ft2.
