DANIEL SMITH Director NORTH CAROLINA Environmental Quality Via Electronic Mail (bjohnson@statesvillenc.net) Ms. Brandy Johnson Pretreatment Coordinator City of Statesville P.O. Box 1111 Statesville, NC 28677 Subject: 5/12/2021 Pretreatment Review of Industrial User Pretreatment Permit Renewal Program: City of Statesville WWTP: Fourth Creek WWTP - NPDES #: NC0031836 Iredell County Dear Ms. Johnson: The Municipal Unit of the Division of Water Resources has reviewed the Industrial User Pretreatment Permit (IUP) renewal submitted by the City of Statesville for the following Significant Industrial User (SIU). The IUP was received by the Division on April 26, 2021. SIU # SIU NAME 4007 PRATT Industries The review indicates that with the following correction, the IUP is adequate and meets the minimum requirements of 15A NCAC 2H .0905 and .0916 and 40 CFR 403.8(f)(1)(iii). The allocation table, maintained in the Division's database, has been updated accordingly. • Please update the expiration date throughout the permit to June 30, 2026. The IUP expiration date cannot be equal to or more than 5 years from the effective date of the IUP renewal. Regardless of this approval action today, within 180 days of the effective date of any reissued NPDES permit (or any subsequent NPDES permit modification) the Permittee would be required to submit to the Division a written technical evaluation of the need to revise local limits (i.e., an updated IWS, or documentation of why one is not needed). This action may include revising, updating or adding to the list of Significant Industrial Users (SIU's). Federal and State pretreatment regulations require the local delegated pretreatment program to effectively control and document the discharge of wastewater from Significant/Categorical Industrial Users to the POTW. It is the POTW's responsibility to ensure that these objectives are consistently met. If you have any questions or comments, please contact Michael Montebello at (919) 707 -3624 [email: Michael.Montebello@ncdenr.gov].
