Comment: I reveiwed the site with DOT and Thalle staff. The private pond (open water) appears to exceed
turbidity standards. I have requested that DOT collected samples and have them analyzed for turbidity.
The pond is fed by a JS with two upstream impact sites (13 and 14). Sediment basins are located on
both sides of the stream at Site 13 (at pipe inlet) and one at pipe outlet to the pond. Evidence of
overtopping of both inlet basins was observed. Fine silt particles may be discharged to the pond during
storm events from previous sediment losses to JS upstream of pond. A turbidity curtain is installed at th(
outlet of Site 13, in the pond, but it has failed on two occassions in the past which may be the reason
why the pond appears turbid.
