As soon as the designs are submitted and the contract awarded, please submit for written concurrence. It is our understanding that the Corps anticipates these structures to be handled under the NW3. Please provide pictures for each associated bridge replacement in Alexander County for documentation purposes. Regards, Donna Hood From: Wyatt, Jeffrey L <jlwyatt@ncdot.gov> Sent: Monday, January 4, 2021 2:50 PM To: Hood, Donna <donna.hood@ncdenr.gov> Subject: Alexander County Bridge washouts Donna, Bridge #136 on Liberty Hill Road over South Yadkin River and Bridge #141 on Cattleman’s Road over Snow Creek in Iredell County has recently failed due to the intense flooding in November of this year. NCDOT proposes to replace these bridges under emergency contracts as soon as possible. Due to the excessive debris and instability of the remaining portions of the bridges, NCDOT would like to begin debris removal and Geotech borings as permit/construction drawings are being prepared to accelerate the replacements. It is estimated that 75-ft of bank stabilization will be needed to restore the area back to pre-disaster conditions on Liberty Hill Road and approximately 60-ft on Cattleman’s Road. Upon receipt of final permit drawings a Pre-Construction Notification application will be completed and submitted for impacts. NCDOT requests permission to begin debris removal and Geotech borings prior to submitting for a permit. A survey of both study areas was conducted on 12/11/2020. No other jurisdictional features or any Threatened or Endangered species were found in these study areas. Thank you, Jeffrey L.
