Existing conditions are a failed concrete/steel deck bridge with sections of the deck in the water.The general land use around the project is mostly forested.Bridge is on paved
secondary road.The landscape in the project area is primarily forested and agricultural fields.Bridge No.141 was washed out on November 12,2020,during a major flood event.

Emergency Design-Build Bridge Replacement Project.The purpose of the project is to replace Bridge No.141,which was destroyed by a major flood event on November 12,2020.
4i.Describe the overall project in detail,including indirect impacts and the type of equipment to be used:*
NC DOT proposes to replace Bridge No.141 over Snow Creek in Iredell County west of Statesville.Existing is a failed 120.5'long by 20'wide(timber deck on steel I-beams)three-span
bridge.The failed bridge is to be replaced with a 140'long by 33'wide three-span(21"cored slab)bridge with piers located outside normal stream flow.The proposed bridge will have
no direct discharge into the water.The roadway grade and alignment will be approximately in the same location as the existing structure.Upon completion,streambanks,which was
eroded during the recent flooding,will we restored to pre-existing conditions with soil,vegetation,and Class II rip rap.All Best Management Practices will be utilized during the course of
the project.The Project will be constructed using typical heavy equipment(trackhoe,backhoe,etc.)Any temporary disturbances will be restored back to previous project conditions.

The proposed bridge will have no direct discharge into Snow Creek(no deck drains).Stormwater runoff from the proposed bridge will flow to traffic
bearing grated inlets on both sides of the roadway at the east approach of the bridge where it will be diffused with riprap at the proposed pipe outlets
on the north and south sides of the approach.All proposed stormwater runoff is discharged as far away from the stream and at the lowest velocities as
practicable.

Minimization of impacts by installing appropriate erosion control measures.Minimal impact to stream during old bridge removal.
