The Glenaire Expansion project, located at the southeast quadrant of Kildaire Farm Rd. and W. Cornwall Rd.,
requires a pump station to support a portion of one wing of the proposed development. This pump station
will support 40 independent living units and a 162-seat restaurant. Based on our calculations, attached, we
anticipate a flow of 15,480 gpd to be generated by this portion of the development. This permit will include
215 LF of 2" forcemain along with the private grinder pump. This flow was permitted through the Town of
Cary, per the attached TOC Sanitary Sewer Permit.

RE: Glenaire Expansion - Sewer Flow Rates
Dear Jason:
The Glenaire Expansion project located at the southwest quadrant of Kildaire Farm Road and W
Cornwall Road necessitates a pump station due to the development nature of the project. This
pump station serves one half of one wing of the project, including 40 independent living units
and a 162 maximum seating capacity full -service restaurant. This letter is provided for the
purpose of establishing the flow rates as well as the pumping rates for this portion of the project.
Please see flow rate calculations below for the grinder pump station proposed at Glenaire:
These flow rates are based on NC 2T Rules section .0114. The contributing sewer flow areas are
based on the architectural and plumbing plans as well as narrative provided by the architect for
the project.

Thanks Amy,
I think at this point we just need to hear from Cary that the permit they issue will include the flow, and therefore it
should not be included in the permit that we (NCDWR) issue. If that's the case, then the fast -track application would not
need to be amended (since it contains zero flow). But the permit that Cary issues should include the corrected flow
(using the 240 GPD for both the 1 and 2 bedroom homes.)

Jason —
Good afternoon. The attached letter reflects the daily flow rate for the pump station. The proposed grinder pump
station has a 40 gpm rate and a calculated pumping rate of 28.9 gpm. There should be no need to redesign the pump
station. The approved TOC sewer permit, submitted with the initial application package, included the flow that will now
be handled by the pump station. How would NCDWR and the Town of Cary like to revise these flows in order to have
accurate reporting? We are happy to amend the Fast Track Application but want to make sure the numbers are
properly reflected in the Fast Track permit as well as the TOC approved permit. I look forward to hearing from you.
Kind Regards,
Amy

Mr. McKenzie and Mr. Lovvorn,
We are reviewing the subject applicant and have some initial questions/comments that involve the flow associated with
the project.
1. This project is somewhat unusual in that Cary is permitting the gravity line and we (NCDWR) will be permitting
the pump station and forcemain. Typically when we (NCDWR) issue a permit, we include the flow in the
permit. But again, this is an unusual situation. The narrative states that the flow will be included in the permit
Cary issues (for the gravity line, I assume). We'll need confirmation from Cary that the flow is included in the
permit for the gravity line, and that it should not be included in the state -issued permit.
2. The flow calculations that were provided with the application appears to have an error. It states that 120 GPD
was used for ten 1-bedrom units. However, the 2T Rules state that the minimum design flow for residences is
240 GPD (1 and 2 Bedroom homes), and 120 for each additional bedroom beyond two. So 240 GPD should have
been used for both the 1 and 2 bedroom homes. This may require the pump station to be redesigned.
