Both letters discussed violations at the Town of Bath wastewater system. The letter received 4/14/21 notified the Town of Violations in January 2021 and the letter received 4/21/21 notified the Town of Violations in. September 2020. The violations noted in September 2020 (7019 0160 0000 3479 9329) received April 21, 2021) were of the submitted value of BOD on the monitoring report. Please note the corrected value on the attached monitoring report of a recording error. The error occurred when the influent was mistakenly recorded in the effluent column. The actual value reported on the Environment 1 form had both samples recorded as less than 2.0 mg/l. This is within the operating value of 10 mg/1 monthly average. Please accept and record the attached NDMR report that corrects the recording error and documents the compliant operation of September 2020. The violations noted in the January 2021 (7019 0160 0000 3479 9312) received April 14, 2021) contained a number of non -compliant parameters. This was the result of a number of extremely unusual circumstances. The ORC of the wastewater system was hospitalized for some unexpected surgery and was out of work for several weeks. The backup ORC experienced a heart attack and was hospitalized as well. The ORC returned to work earlier than expected and noted on the submitted reports that the values reported by the lab were non -compliant. This started an ongoing effort to have all values in compliance. Several factors affecting the values are already being addressed. Some other contributing factors and possible remedies have been affected by the COVID epidemic. One effort that was begun immediately was to locate and eliminate the large amount of infiltration during rain events. Several areas where infiltration was found have been addressed through extensions placed on pump tanks to have lids above ground where ponding was taking place and leading to infiltration of rain water. Our ORC has also attempted to update a number of mechanical parts of our plant but unfortunately these items are still in transit. They were not available in the US and one item is being shipped from Germany and one other needed component is being shipped from Ireland.
