Inspection Summary:
Megan Faulkner and Helen Perez from NCDEQ DWR performed a compliance inspection on April 22, 2021. They met with
Bobby Poarch, the ORC, on site. The ORC was able to provide all records requested and explained how the system
operates. After reviewing records and all components of the system, it was determined that is is compliant with the permit.
Infiltration is working well for this system now, and they have not needed to utilize the Oak Island Recreational Fields yet.
They had to remove grass clippings/vegetation recently from the infiltration basins. Maps were available of all GW MW on
the golf course.

Comment: All treated effluent is being disposed of in two high rate infiltration basins. The Oak Island
Recreation Fields are not being used because they are not currently needed with the demand.
There is no 5 day upset pond because the plant has the ability to send any upset water to the
West Brunswick WWTF if needed. Upset water that occurs now is being
recirculated back
through the plant to be treated again. Infiltration is working well, ORC states they had to remove
grass clippings/vegetation and clean out recently. Valves automatically
shut off when FB gets to
11 ". ORC then has to reroute to West Brunswick WWTF. Discussed sprinklers
being marked
purple and whether they function at Oak Island Recreational Fields in case this area is needed it
the future. It is not currently being utilized. Turbidity meter functions bV
using a laser for
measurements. It read 0.04 while on site.
