Dear Mr. Wittlinger & Mrs. Yenny - Wittlinger:
The Division of Water Quality (Division) would like to thank you for your comments regarding
the 401 water quality certification application for the proposed Ashley Furniture Mid - Atlantic
Manufacturing & Distribution Center. The Division has reviewed all the comments received and
has conveyed those comments to the applicant.
In response to comments received, the Division offers the following:
• The Division will continue to work with Ashley Furniture to ensure they provide a
detailed stormwater management plan that will address storm water controls for all
new impervious surfaces and will be finalized prior to commencing construction
activities.
• If the facility has any stormwater discharges associated with industrial activities, an
NPDES Industrial Stormwater Permit or No Exposure Certification will be required in
accordance with Federal and State regulations.
• Davie County will be providing sewer connections to the site. Any wastewater
generated inside the building(s) that is discharged to the sewer system will be addressed
by Davie County.
• An Erosion and Sedimentation Control Plan will be required by the Division of Energy,
Mineral and Land Resources.

• The Division will ensure that all items within the scope of the 401 Water Quality
Certification are addressed through final review of the application.
Per Title 15A of the North Carolina Administrative Code Chapter 02H .0504, the Director
has determined not to hold a public hearing prior to granting or denying this
certification.
