Subject: Lake Lure/MidAtlantic project
Kim/Scott –
Just a couple of items to clear up-
1) The wall along the shoreline is appx. 106 linear fe et, correct? (this is what the approval will be fo r unless you
indicate otherwise) The total wall length is approximately 116’. The w all length contacting the waters of Lake
Lure is approximately 106’.
2) I’m estimating the ft2 (acreage) as 642 ft2 ~ 0.015 acres fill below normal pool (they make us do the a pprovals in
terms of acreage of fill – just estimating this bas ed on 2:1 for the rip rap plus the wall ….very roug h estimate). If
you have objections to this or it is not as accurat e as you’d like – please estimate the ft2 below nor mal pool
elevation for me. I’m not sure I got all the pape rwork you sent to Gray – so if there was a revised application in
there with the estimate of ft2 below full pool, I d idn’t get it. We have not been asked to do an acreage-below-
pool calculation. Based on the requirements of the Town of Lake Lure, the face of the seawall must co incide
with the property line which is defined as the poin t where the water contacts the shore at full pond
(990.0’). The seawall must be constructed on the p roperty owner’s side of this line. Therefore by definition, the
only ‘acres-of-fill’ below normal full pool will be that taken by the installed rip rap. Based on a wall thickness of
12” and a lake fron t length of 106’, subtraction of 106 sq ft from you r estimate of 642 sq. ft. yields a revised total
of 536 sq. ft. or .0123 acres
3) I’m a little concerned about changing the applicant name to Mid Atlantic Land, LLC, when Rutherford Co unty GIS
still lists the property as Mid Atlantic Holdings, LLC and the prior paperwork that was sent to me by Mr. Chebier
says Mid Atlantic Holdings, LLC. [please re-verify and let me know; we still have this listed under AA Pavers and
2
I’d like to get it switched to the appropriate appl icant name . The following ink along with the attached
document is included for your
use. http://www.secretary.state.nc.us/corporations/Corp.aspx?PitemId=9998670
I think we’re fine with the sandbag proposal for no w (and we’ll see how it does). I don’t know if Cli nt has restrictions on
the block walls (for some of the Duke Energy lakes – they restrict walls to native stone, at least on the lakes I work
with). You should double check with Clint on that (or if they have restrictions on height of walls al ong the lake – Duke
would probably require a terraced wall to keep the height down).
Thank you!
Susan
