DWQ Town of Erwin, WWTP#2 (former Swift Mills facility)

This facility currently receives an average of approximately 35,000 gallons of flow per
day, predominated by inflow and infiltration. The Town is working to take this facility
off line, connecting all flow to its other wastewater treatment plant. Because of the high •
levels of inflow and infiltration, sludge is not generated in significant volumes. Any
sludge that is generated is stored in stainless steel tanks on -site. The small volume allow
influent to the facility combined with the large sludge storage volume available (in excess.
of 1 million gallons) results in an infrequent need for sludge disposal. However, when a
sufficient volume of sludge is accumulated, the Town •contracts with Synagro, which,/
hauls the sludge offsite for disposal via land application.
