On March 16, 2001, I visited the Swift Textiles facility basically as a check on the status of the
cleanup of the wastewater plant. The wastewater facility will be closing in the future due to the
closure of.their industrial facility: The plant is in the process of removing all solids from the
system to close out the facility and rescind the NPDES permit. Mr. Waldo Faircloth (Swift
Textile employee) was on site during the brief inspection. The facility is operating both aeration
basins and one clarifier. Solids from the system are gradually wastedout of the plant and land
applied as per permit # WQ0006298. It appeared that a,small,amount of effluent was discharging
at the time of the visit with no apparent solids in the effluent. One sludge holding.tank is empty
(black one) and the other appeared to be 3/4 full. Plans are to transfer the ownership -of the
wastewater plant to the Town of Erwin, when the closure and rescission occurs.
