RE: Updated Compliance Evaluation of the Mercury Minimization Plan
Town of Tabor City WWTP/NPDES Permit No. NC0026000
Columbus County
Dear Ms. Sanchez King:
On behalf of the Town of Tabor City, we are pleased to provide updated information
regarding the Town's ongoing compliance with its Mercury Minimization Plan.
1. Supporting documentation showing the progress and status of activities listed in
Section III of the MMP.
Since January 2016, the Town has continued to maintain compliance with the NPDES
permit limit (12 ng/L for 12-month average). The table below details the monthly
mercury sampling results for the 3 required sampling points: influent, mixed liquor
suspended solids (MLSS) and effluent. A 12-month running average for these effluent
samples is also included in the table. As of March 2018, the running annual average
for mercury (effluent) is 3.92 mg/L and no changes in mercury influent levels have
been detected.
The Town has maintained information on its website that provides details to residents
and wastewater customers regarding minimizing the potential for discharging
mercury into the wastewater system. The information is provided by the USEPA and
outlines what routine products may contain mercury and what individuals can do to
reduce impacts. No new industrial users have been added to the Town's wastewater
system since the last update was provided.
