List the total estimated acreage of all existing wetlands on the property: 0 4g. List the total estimated linear feet of all existing streams on the property: 1,000+ 4h. Explain the purpose of the proposed project:* Two sanitary sewer stream crossings were identified by Town staff as requiring repairs to avoid broken sewer pipes and discharge of sewage to streams. Both are located in close proximity to each other on property owned by the Parkway Community Association, Inc., within Town of Cary sanitary sewer easements. Both sewer lines were installed around 1990. Site 1 is a near -perpendicular stream crossing of an eight -inch PVC line which was formerly constructed at the stream bed elevation and encased in concrete. Stream erosion/downcutting has resulted in the undercutting of the crossing, such that the crossing is now suspended over the stream channel. The weathering of the concrete has resulted in the exposure of the lower portion of the PVC pipe to damage from debris during high -flow events and stress from the weight of the concrete. Site 2 is a diagonal crossing that was formerly buried beneath the stream bed, but due to erosion/downcutting, the upper portion of the ductile iron pipe is exposed. In addition, channel widening has exposed a portion of the PVC line that is connected to the ductile iron pipe, exposing it to damage from debris during high -flow events. 4i. Describe the overall project in detail, including indirect impacts and the type of equipment to be used:* At Site 1 the PVC pipe and concrete casing will be removed and replaced with a ductile iron pipe aerial crossing. Riprap will be used to stabilize the stream bed and banks, as the stream is actively downcutting and widening. At Site 2 the Town proposes to place fill over the exposed PVC pipe segment, and then to stabilize the stream bed and banks with riprap, as the channel is actively downcutting and widening. Stabilization of the right streambank will require use of wire and t-posts to secure riprap, as a 1:1 slope is required due to the proximity of a fence to the top of the streambank. Equipment used will include a trackhoe and small loader/skid steer. 4j. Please upload project drawings for the proposed project. Specifically describe measures taken to avoid or minimize the proposed impacts in designing the project: Since both streams are unstable and eroding both laterally and vertically, riprap armoring, including the stream bed is needed to protect the pipe crossings from future damage due to stream erosion. The width of the armored area is limited to 10 feet wide (five feet on either side of each pipe). 1b. Specifically describe measures taken to avoid or minimize the proposed impacts through construction techniques: Work will be conducted during periods of low/normal base flow. A pump -around will be used at each location to allow work in the dry. 2. Compensatory Mitigation for Impacts to Waters of the U.S. or Waters of the State 2a. Does the project require Compensatory Mitigation for impacts to Waters of the U.S. or Waters of the State? r Yes f No 2b. If this project DOES NOT require Compensatory Mitigation, explain why: Mitigation thresholds are not exceeded for this project. F. Stormwater Management and Diffuse Flow Plan (required by DWR) 1.
