HomeMy WebLinkAbout20050054 Ver 3_401 Application_20130107OS-0054 03 PARKS RECREATION AND CULTURAL RESOURCES DEPARTMENT January 7, 2013 Subject: Indian Creek Greenway- neighborhood connection Division of Water Quality NC Department of Natural Resources 1650 Mail Service Center Raleigh, NC 27699 -1650 Dear Karen Higgins, Attached is a PCN and supporting documents for Riparian Buffer Authorization for impacts to riparian buffer associated with a proposed greenway trail. PROJECT LOCATION: The site is located approximately % miles north of Morrisville Carpenter Drive. The connection is located off Piper Stream Circle, within Twin Lakes Subdivision, section Seal Harbor and East Hampton, in Cary, North Carolina. The current site plan is based on the general layout submitted to you previously by the Nau Company, PLLC for buffer and stream impacts associated with the first segment of the connector trail constructed by the Twin Lakes subdivision developer. That segment was approved as part of DWQ Project # 2005- 0054v2; Twin Lakes SW BMP and Greenway Trail; dated June 28, 2011. PROJECT DESCRIPTION The proposed 125' trail improvement will connect an existing trail connection from Piper Stream Circle to existing Indian Creek Greenway. The trail is within a 30' wide water and sewer easement and /or a 70 ft. wide overhead power transmission line easement. The land is currently owned by Twin Lakes Master Association as common open space. The trail will be concrete with a proposed boardwalk section to bridge the creek. The trail will connect into the existing Indian Creek Greenway. PROJECT SUMMARY The project will cause the following buffer impacts: Zone 1: 426 SF (permanent) and 1266 SF (temporary). Zone 2: 290 SF (permanent) and 626 SF (temporary). A temporary timber crossing and permanent boardwalk will be used to cross the stream with no temporary or permanent impact. The trail is located in a cleared utility corridor, minimizing new impacts to buffer vegetation. Please feel free to contact me at (919) 460 -4973 or amy.mackintosh(a)-townofcary.org if you have questions about this application.
