SUBJECT: Proposed Intersection Improvements at SR 1375 (Lake Wheeler Road) and SR 1393 (Hilltop Needmore
Road),Wake County, STIP Project HL-0008G
The North Carolina Department of Transportation has begun project development and environmental
studies for proposed improvements at the intersection of SR 1375 (Lake Wheeler Road) and SR 1393
(Hilltop Needmore Road) in Wake County. It will be funded through the Capital Area Metropolitan
Planning Organization (CAMPO)Bonus Allocation because of the committed NC 540 project. A Federal
categorical exclusion is anticipated to be prepared in accordance with the National Environmental Policy
Act(NEPA). The attached figure shows the project location and study area.
I would appreciate any information you might have that would be helpful in evaluating potential
environmental impacts of the project. If appliable,please identify any permits or approvals which may be
required by your agency.Your comments will be used in the preparation of environmental documentation
for this federally funded project. It is desirable for your agency to respond by May 23,2021 for your
comments to be used in the preparation of this document.
