Ste 201 Reference: Soil Scientist Investigation for Stormwater Cypress Pointe Dear Mr. Anderson. A site investigation has been conducted for the above referenced project, located off Fennel Road in Cumberland County. North Carolina. The purpose of this investigation was to provide a general characterization of the soils in the area proposed for a stormwater infiltration device, including a determination of the depth to evidence of a seasonal high water table and estimation of the permeability of the various soil layers. In -situ hydraulic conductivity testing was not conducted. All soil characteristics were described in accordance with the USDA Field Book for Describing and Sampling Soils. This report represents my professional opinion as a Licensed Soil Scientist. Hand -powered auger borings wei,e advanced at five locations as shown at Figure 1. A soil profile description was collected at each location and is attached to this report. At location # 1, soil morphological characteristics indicating a seasonal high water table (SHWT) were observed at 11." inches below surface. Infiltration rates (permeability) range from 0.8 in/hr in the sandy clay loam textured layer between 62 and 84 inches to as high as 10 in/hr in the loamy sand textured soils observed bet\.ccn the surface and 18 inches below surface. At location #2. soil morphological characteristics indicating a seasonal high water table (SHWT) were observed at 110 inrlies below surface. Infiltration rates (permeability) range from 0.8 in/hr in the sandy clay loam textured layer between 62 and 84 inches to as high as 10 in/hr in the loamy sand textured soils observed between the surface and 18 inches below surface. At location #3, soil morphological characteristics indicating a seasonal high water table (SHWT) were observed at 92 inches below surface. Infiltration rates (permeability) range from 0.5 in/hr in the sandy clay loam textured layer between 14 and 68 inches to as high as 8 in/hr in the loamy sand textured soils observed between the iurface and 9 inches below surface. At location #4, soil morphological characteristics indicating a seasonal high water table (SHWT) were observed at 86 inches below surface. Infiltration rates (permeability) range from 0.6 in/hr in the sandy clay loam textured layer between 14 and 68 inches to as high as 9 in/hr in the loamy sand textured soils observed between the surface and 9 inches below surface. At location #5. soil morphological characteristics indicating a seasonal high water table (SHWT) were observed at 90 inches below surface. Infiltration rates (penmeability) range from 0.5 in/hr in the sandy clay loam textured layer between 14 and 68 inches to as high as 8 in/hr in the loamy sand textured soils observed between the surface and 9 inches below surface.
