Do you know the name of the staff member you would like to request a meeting with?
Please give a brief project description below and include location information. *
Two sanitary sewer stream crossings were identified by Town staff as
requiring repairs to avoid a broken sewer pipe and discharge of
sewage to streams. Both are located in close proximity to each other
on property owned by the Parkway Community Association, Inc.,
within Town of Cary sanitary sewer easements. Both sewer lines were
installed around 1990.
Site 1 is a near -perpendicular stream crossing of an eight -inch PVC
line which was formerly constructed at the stream bed elevation and
encased in concrete. Stream erosion has resulted in the undercutting
of the crossing, such that the crossing is now suspended over the
stream channel. The weathering of the concrete has resulted in the
exposure of the lower portion of the PVC pipe. The PVC pipe and
concrete casing will be removed and replaced with a ductile iron pipe
aerial crossing. Riprap will be used to stabilize the stream bed and
banks, as the stream is actively downcutting and widening.
Site 2 is a diagonal crossing that was formerly buried beneath the
stream bed, but due to erosion, the upper portion of the ductile iron
pipe is exposed. In addition, channel widening has exposed a portion
of the PVC line that is connected to the ductile iron pipe. The Town
proposes to place fill over the exposed PVC pipe, and then to
stabilize the stream bed and banks with riprap, as the channel is
actively downcutting and widening.
Please give a couple of dates you are available for a meeting.
