B-5642 is a bridge replacement project that involves removing existing Brunswick County bridge #65 on NC 87 over Batarora Branch, with a 1@70', 24" cored slab bridge with 4.0' end bent caps. No deck drains will be used on the proposed structure, reducing adverse stream impacts associated with direct roadway runoff. Additional measures implemented to reduce impacts to stream and surrounding wetlands inlcude, maintaining existing drainage patterns, using 3:1 fill slopes and discharging stormwater as far away from the stream and wetlands as practicable. Further, rip rap is used at drainage outlets to dissipate energy and reduce erosion.
