Ms Witherspoon:
As per our previous conversations over the last few months, please find the following
application, and supplemental information, for a proposed walking/ nature trail within the
Kendall Hills subdivision. As a member of our neighborhood's Home Owner's Association,
I've been tasked to complete and submit this application for a simple trail that we would
like to create within the subdivision's natural/ open space area.
This trail would be extremely basic, approximately 4' wide and approximately 2,100' long
within Zone 2 of the riparian buffer that surrounds an unnamed stream within this open
space area. If approved, we would use standard garden tools to produce an exercise
path, only removing weeds and undergrowth, while limiting any basic stream crossing to a
maximum of one, if even needed at all.
Please let me know if you have any questions, concerns, or if additional information is
required.
Thank you for your time and cooperation, LS

The sq ft of impact related to the entire trail within each Zone. Zone 1 is the 11t 30 feet
measured landward from the top of bank and Zone 2 is the latter 20 ft measured landward
from Zone 1. The idea behind this is that regardless of what vegetation you will have to
remove, the whole trail will be traveled by foot traffic which will not allow for vegetation to
grow with the entire footprint of the trail.
A basic map will work for me.
Thanks,
Lauren

This section has to be completed. In addition, you would need to include a sketch of
the trail with the buffer depicted on plans.
Let me know if you need any help.

Back in March, we discussed a potential hiking trail that our HOA wanted to create w /in our
neighborhood's open space. Within this area is a buffered stream, so you sent me a basic application.
We, the HOA board, are still trying of get input from residents, however I was going to go ahead and
submit the app and hope to get approval, thus easing some resident concerns, etc. So, I THINK I
nave it completed, but there is one question I am not sure how to answer/ calculate. Sect C, question
3f & 6g. We expect the trail will be approximately 2,100', and varying from 3' - 4' wide, as we'll fully
intend to work around existing fauna. If needed, we only plan to use hand tools, thus a very, very
minimal impact if any at all. So, 6,300 sq ft would be an extremely over estimation. Can I add the
above to the project explanation, and then leave this block blank, or N /A?

Attached is the application form required to obtain a buffer authorization.
Once you have completed the form you should submit three copies with maps to NCDWQ

This is the address for our Central Office where it will be processed and will be sent to my
