ClearWater Environmental Consultants, Inc. www.cwenv.com April 20, 2021 Mr. Andrew Moore NC Division of Water Resources 2090 US Highway 70 Swannanoa, North Carolina 28778 RE: Self -Reporting — Sediment Removal Project Ranger - Biltmore Farms Bridge and Access Road Buncombe County, North Carolina Dear Mr. Moore, At the request of Biltmore Farms, Inc. ClearWater Environmental Consultants, Inc. (CEC) conducted a site inspection for the Project Ranger site on March 29, 2021. The purpose of this visit was to evaluate erosion and off -site sedimentation concerns following a major rain event that occurred on the night of Thursday March 26, 2021. The site received over 3 inches of rain within a 12-hour span. This rain event led to off - site sedimentation entering three unnamed tributaries to the French Broad River. CEC documented the sediment deposition in pockets ranging from 1-7 inches over approximately 1,900 linear feet (Attachment A). After notifying the Division of Water Resources (DWR), Biltmore Farms, Inc. removed the sediment from the unnamed tributaries using standard removal techniques. Following the sediment removal efforts, CEC reevaluated the site on April 19, 2021. It is the opinion of CEC that remediation activities for the Biltmore Farms Bridge and Access Road are now complete. Any other off -project sediment that impacted jurisdictional streams and wetlands and any subsequent remediation efforts have not been evaluated as part of this report. Representative before and after photographs are included in this report (Attachment B). Please do not hesitate to contact us at 828-698-9800 if you have any questions or comments.
