NOTICE OF CITIZENS PROJECT UPDATE MEETING FOR THE
PROPOSED WIDENING OF COUNTRY CLUB ROAD (STATE ROAD 1616) FROM
U S 64 BUSINESS TO JEFFREYS ROAD (S R 1541)

The North Carolina Department of Transportation ( NCDOT) will hold a Citizens
Project Update Meeting for the above mentioned highway project at the following time
and location
• Tuesday, Nov 27, 2012 4 7p m , Winstead Avenue Elementary School,
991 South Winstead Ave, Rocky Mount
Interested individuals may attend this informal workshop any time during the
above hours NCDOT representatives will display maps and be available to answer
questions and receive comments Comments and information received will be taken into
consideration as work on the project develops Please note that there will not be a formal
presentation
NCDOT proposes to widen Country Club Road (S R 1616) from U S 64
Business (Buck Leonard Boulevard) to Jeffreys Road (S R 1541) The project proposes
to upgrade Country Club Road from a two lane roadway to a four lane median divided
roadway Additional right of way and the relocation of homes and businesses will be
required for this project
The purpose of this project is to increase the traffic carrying capacity of Country
Club Road and to improve safety due to the high number of rear end and left turn
accidents
