YOUR SCOPE OF WORK AS WE UNDERSTAND IT: The purpose of this work is to
supply men, equipment and materials to refresh the existing revetment along the
lake front of your property on Lake View Shores Loop. I have divided the wall into
four sections, as designated on the attached pictures.
Area 1 measures approximately 40 lineal feet and will consume approximately 28
tons of rock assuming that the wedge is approximately 4 feet high and extends 6
feet waterward. The wedge will consist of both Class A and Class B stone with the
larger stones being used for bulk and stabilization and the smaller rip rap being
used for overlay and aesthetics.
Area 2 measures approximately 50 lineal feet and will consume approximately 36
tons of rock assuming that the wedge is approximately 4 feet high and extends 6
feet waterward. The wedge will consist of both Class A and Class B stone with the
larger stones being used for bulk and stabilization and the smaller rip rap being
used for overlay and aesthetics.
Area 3 measures approximately 83 lineal feet and will consume approximately 59
tons of rock assuming that the wedge is approximately 4 feet high and extends 6
feet waterward. The wedge will consist of both Class A and Class B stone with the
larger stones being used for bulk and stabilization and the smaller rip rap being
used for overlay and aesthetics.
Area 4 measures approximately 117 lineal feet and will involve the removal and
disposal of an existing wooden seawall. Approximately 75 feet of this wall will
be reconstructed using Class B Rip rap, with geotechnical underlayment.
The balance of the wall will consist of the following:
• Vertical 6x6 posts, designed to hold approximately 3-4 feet of total
wall, of which only 2-3 feet will be exposed.
• SYP treated, horizonal top wale consisting of 2x4 timbers.
• Vertical sheet pile consisting of SYP 2x10 slats, driven securely into
the ground. Sheet piles will be equipped with weep holes to allow
any accumulated water to escape to Lake Norman.
• Treated 2x8 top cap will trim the entire structure.
• The landward side of the wall will include geo-technical fabric and
aggregate backfill to allow for the ready transfer of ground waters
through the weep holes created in the lower portions of the wall.
• If necessary one step down may be necessary to provide an easy
transition to be beach below.
Our scope of work also includes the following:
• Installing a drain extension through the extended revetment in area 3. Pipe
extension will be provided by client.
• Demolition and removal of the upper 1/3 of the existing wooden seawall.
Wooden debris will initially be placed on shore and will later be disposed of
by others.
• Supplying and installing Geo-fabric underlayment against the exposed
wooden seawall in areas one, two three and four..
• Final grading and shaping of the back yard so that the existing topography
slopes gently waterward.
• All disturbed ground along the shoreline and any grounds disturbed during
the rock transfer operation will be graded to a rough grade finish, ready for a
landscaper to add fine grade, seed, mulch or whatever finish is desired.
• Hand placing Class B rip rap under the fixed pier, as needed.
Any of the above items can be deleted or amended at the customer's
election.
