4. Proposed Activity
Provide a detailed description of the proposed activity including its purpose and include the type of equipment to be used:*
Plans are to replace current deck. a 13 foot section of the deck running parallel to
the stream and house will be enclosed and extended 4 ft into the buffer zone with an
additional 4 foot stairway with a 4 foot landing at the top. A total of 17feet of deck
will extend 8 ft into the buffer zone making it 42 ft from the stream border or 8 ft into
zone 2. The remainder of the deck will remain in it's current foot print and not be in
the buffer zone. Gutters will be installed on the new porch so that they discharge
onto a splat prior to the buffer zone.
Shovels hammer power tools will be used to do construction.

Care was taken to minimize buffer zone encroachment while allowing for normal
activities of the home owner and future owners of the property.
1b. Specifically describe measures taken to avoid or minimize the proposed impacts through construction techniques.*
Deck plus the contractor whom will be demoing and constructing the porch and deck
is working closely with the town of Cary to follow requirements to maintain a safe
non impactful construction project.
Property own currently has a fence in place which will act to prevent materials from
entering the creek and surrounding areas.
Digging will be done for the installation of footings and left open for the shortest time
required for placement and inspection by the town of Cary. Preventive measures will
be taken in the event of heavy rains.
