In accordance with the application submitted to the Underground Injection Control (UIC) Program that was received on
06/15/2009, the Aquifer Protection Section (APS) acknowledges your intent to construct a closed-loop geothermal water-
only injection well system for the operation of a ground-source heat pump located at Cape Cod Housing Area, Camp
Lejeune, Onslow County, NC 28547. This system is deemed permitted by rule (North Carolina Administrative Code Title
15A, Subchapter 2C, Section .021 l(u)(2)).
However, it is r~commended that you contact the Onslow County Health Department, as they may have additional
construction or permitting requirements for this type of system. If you modify your system at any time, including the
addition of antifreeze, corrosion inhibitors, or any other substances to the circulating fluid, you must contact the APS to
verify compliance with applicable rules.

Mike,
This site is on Camp Lejeune (CLNC) and all of the housing has been leased to Atlantic Marine Corps Communities
(AMCC} for 50 years. There will not be any individual houses sold and there are not any lot lines. All of the houses are
served by a municipal water and sewer system and there are no water wells in any of the neighborhoods on CLNC. We
are drawing as-builts for each house showing existing and new geothermal boreholes and I can send them with each
GW-1 report at the end of the job if that is OK with you. All of the new boreholes are grouted from the bottom of the
borehole with thermally enhanced (bentonite) grout.
Also, in the future can the approval letter be cc to the list~d driller? This would be a great help in insuring that we are in
compliance before we start a job.

We rec'd the NOi for SQW wells at Camp Jejune. We need a site map showing the location of the proposed wells in
relation to houses, lot lines, etc.
Also, just to confirm, will these wells will be located on the military reservation and the individual homes that these
wells will be connected to will not be parceled out and re-sold? In ot,her words, will this site be for military housing?

sources of groundwater contamination and the orientation of and distances between the proposed well(s) and
any existing well(s) or waste disposal facilities such as septic tanks or drain fields located within 200 feet of
the geothermal heat pump well system. Label all features clearly and include a north arrow.
(2) The Site Map must show the subject property in relation to the surrounding area by using at least two fixed
reference points such as roads, streams, and/or highway intersections.
