He is also currently on the Board of Directors of the NC Sustainable Energy Association — (NCSEA), trying to make a positive difference in timely renewable energy legislation, He was raised in Chapel Hill, NC, in the middle of the state. He graduated from Appalachian State University (Boone NC - BA Anthropology - 1978). Next was a tough graduate school program at the Catholic University of America, (Washington DC - MA Anthropology - 1982). The frontier west lured he & his best friend to drive cross-country & he became a successful stockbroker in... Anchorage Alaska in the 80's. He has been steadily fascinated by alternative renewable energies and solar orientation since the 70's in Boone. His senior archaeology project was to find 10 unfound prehistoric Indian sites in the county - which he successfully slid by first predicting where they'd be via the Sun's arc on topo maps! He has been an actively -licensed NC Real Estate Broker since a senior in college (1978), both an NC & an SC licensed Residential Contractor since 1993, & both an NC & SC licensed Commercial Contractor since I M9 He says that he vividly remembers that his interests in homebuilding were first tangibly inspired at age 7... As the eldest of 5 siblings, he says he was "so thrilled to get to help my busy pediatrician father & my realtor mother to assemble our family dream home" in 1963 - "just as my lights were coming on", he says. "They used only recycled historical materials, rescued mostly from several crumbling, http://web.mac.com/esenior/ABC—wcbsiteMLNENGTON,html 3/25/2008 Solar Green Builders in Wilmington NC & Chapel Hill NC AnchorageBuildingCorp 823... Page 2 of 5 overgrown, antebellum mansions" (later flooded to create Jordan Lake, in central NC). He remembers being "absolutely enthralled" as they painstakingly restored ancient heart-pine mantelpieces & paneling & doors, handmade bricks, bubbly window panes, & enormous hand-hewn beams. His taskwork began with maneuvering a "gentle" crowbar to wrench mantles & paneling off of ancient walls, & later, he was assigned a rag-wrapped broom soaked in dangerously caustic lye -to remove the centuries of stratified paint from these irreplaceable treasures. Endless sanding & important father/son chatter commenced. The precocious project in Chapel Hill NC became known as & was often featured in articles as, the "New House with History." Through college & then graduate school he majored in anthropology/archaeology. It required a unique dichotomy of indoor/outdoor scholarliness -both "a tacked-to-the-seat literary discipline", & "physically and mentally exacting fieldwork, W1der tough conditions". Through college he led large crews on "digs", living in tents, bathing in rivers -for 7 summers & then 1.5 solid years -in NC, SC, VA, MD, KY, & a summer abroad. - In the early '80's, he "totally switched gears -and wardrobes" into high finance, & became a formally trained, well-respected stockbroker with a major firm in ... Anchorage, Alaska! He says that a pioneering sister's beckoning, then an awesome once-in-a-lifetime cross-country drive with his best fishing pal got them there. They loved Alaska immediately & stayed. "Investment coW1seling was great hard work with a lot of responsibility. I was good at taking care of & looking after folks." He reflects that, "those were very intense, defining years for me. I had about all the condensed life-trauma & as much fun that you could possibly have anywhere -up there."- Senior grins & reflects that, "ironically, in retrospect, this winding path was ultimately the ideal educational & career background for becoming a custom homebuilder". He says that blending "a studious, idyllic devotion to humankind's diversity (anthropology), & the manual comprehension of structural detail (archaeology), then the formal financial industry training & its' fiduciary responsibility (finance), were all, oddly, properly imperative ingredients" to becoming a well-rounded custom builder. http:/ /web.mac.com/csenior/ ABC_ website/WILMINGTON.html 3/25/2008 Solar Green Builders in Wilmington NC & Chapel Hill NC AnchorageBuildingCorp 823... Page 3 of 5 Finally, after "catching every species of Arctic fish" & ultimately "too many l0000ng dark winters", he said that he finally really grasped the importance of "family", „all four seasons", & "everything so fine & wonderful about North Carolina". He chose that difficult path, "extremely hard- earned" he says, back to his first vocational love - homebuilding. He worked for several leading high - volume residential construction firms in Raleigh/Durham/Cary for many years before moving "all the way East, to the NC coast - where we vacationed as kids" & launched Anchorage Building Corp in WilmingtonlBrunswick Co., NC in 1993. And... at 44, he finally met & married the love of his life in the year 2000, sweet happy angel Leigh Ann, a career RN, specializing in HJVIAIDS care. Chris Polanski, Jr: (910.279.2723) (Wilmington NC) The Project Manager for Anchorage Building Corp is Christopher Stephan Polanski, Jr {known to all as "Chris Junior" - PO who came aboard in 2006. "Meeting Chris Senior of Anchorage Building Corp opened my eyes to a whole new world of building. His ideas and building style are where I wanted to be and what I wanted to be a part of, the Green concept is the wave of the future. There are just too many advantages for it to lay dormant any longer, now that the technology is more readily available?" Chris was born in Kentucky on June 23rd, 1975 and is son to a career military officer who was re -stationed every three to four years. This gave Chris a chance to live in homes throughout the Continental United States and Hawaii. Areas such as Colonial Williamsburg, VA, Savanna, GA, Long Island, NY, Raleigh, NC, Wahiawa, Hawaii, and Oak Island in the coastal region of North Carolina nurtured Chris's intrigue with regards to architecture and home designing. After graduating high school in 1993 he followed in his father's footsteps and joined the armed forces to serve his country and to get financial help for further education and following his dream of architectural design and home building. Chris graduated from East Carolina University in 1999 with a Bachelor of Science, double -majoring in Architectural Design and Mechanical Design and minoring in Business. Since then he has strived to step ahead http://web.mae.corn/csenior/ABC_website/WILMfNGTON.html 3/25/2008 , Solar Green Builders in Wilmington NC & Chapel Hill NC AnchorageBuildingCorp 823... Page 4 of 5 and achieve the beginning of his life-long dream of custom home building. This opportunity came after meeting Chris Senior, founder of Anchorage Building Corp and their long initial conversation showed a common interest and passion in creating phenomenal homes and taking advantage of design and practicality with a strong sense of conservation. Chris was introduced to "Green Building", a concept he grabbed immediately. Along the way to getting his dream job, he took a position selling design software following college graduation. Then he worked for an engineering firm that focused primarily on industrial and commercial projects. The firm was small and privately owned and afforded Chris a tremendous source of real world experience and knowledge. After three years Chris found himself at a crossroad, to continue learning commercial and industrial engineering practices or to follow his dream of home building and be able to incorporate his creative design ideas in a true building environment. In 2004, he moved to Raleigh, NC joining a large residential .construction company who was focusing on tract building. While this position gave him a wealth of experience and knowledge of the building process, the guidelines for which homes were built were very stringent with little to no homeowner involvement and the repetitive fast paced builds fell short of a true custom home even with the features being incorporated as "extras". Being away from the coast was tough for the 18-year beach veteran and knowing he was still not living his true dream, he made the move back to the New Hanover and Brunswick County area and planted firm to find where he wanted to be in his career. After coming aboard with Anchorage Building Corporation, I feel like I have found a home! "The first phone call with Chris Senior sparked a light and fire I couldn't ignore, I knew that the opportunity I had hoped for and been searching for was at my doorstep and I did not hesitate to walk through it. Working with a builder like Chris Senior is a once-in-a-lifetime experience, and I have never been happier. His work and building concepts are refreshing and exciting, his homeowner interaction is great, I don't feel like I am building for clients as much as new friends made and I feel a common sense of accomplishment in building http://web;mac.com/csenior/ ABC_ website/WILMINGTON.html 3/25/2008 Solar Green Builders in Wilmington NC & Chapel Hill NC AnchorageBuildingCorp 823...
