Also, the endangered Hexasylis naniflora species has now been found on this site after the plant review was performed at the correct time of year.The Corps has not been informed of this finding except by an email I sent about 30 minutes ago. I have also copied the US Fish and Wildlife Service.As the 401 permit writer, I advise that both Federal agencies should weigh in on this finding prior to resubmittal for DWR approval. Typical Section and Superelevation VICINITY MAP The typical section of the proposed structure will consist of two (2) 10'-0" lanes and 2'-4 1/2" shoulders with a 6" curb on the right and a 5'- 0" sidewalk on the left lane. The structure will utilize three bar metal railing for the barrier. The entire bridge is located on a tangent alignment;therefore,there is no superelevation. The bridge has a 1/4" per foot normal crowned slope. Hydraulic analyses were performed for the existing condition and the proposed alternatives using HEC-RAS. The 100-yr discharge was evaluated and shows only a .01 foot increase of the base flood elevation. Alternative 1 superstructure consists of a flexible pavement overlay supported on eleven 39 inch prestressed concrete box beams spaced at 3'-0"with no overhang. 2. Alternative 2 superstructure consists of an 8.5"concrete deck supported on four 36"steel rolled beams spaced at 9'-0", with overhangs of 2'-11". B. Abutments 1. Alternative 1 will use stub abutments with cantilevered turn-back U-wings supported by steel vertical and brace piles. 2. Alternative 2 will use integral abutments with cantilevered turn-back U-wings supported on steel vertical piles. ESTIMATED STRUCTURE COST A summary of the estimated construction costs for each alternative is presented below. Detailed cost estimates are included in Appendix B.
