Ken,
Thanks for sending this map. Regarding your response:
1. The Regional Conditions prevent us from issuing a NWP for above grade fills in the FEMA
100 year floodplain Based on your description and the attached FEMA map it appears that the
location of the crossing is in the 500 year floodplain. However, the project area is close to
the 500 year -100 year line, so I would prefer to authorize this project under NWP 14 for
linear transportation projects (NWP 14 does not have the restrictions regarding above grade
fills in the 100 year floodplain).
2. A plan view and cross section sketch will be fine. You can indicate the dimensions on the
drawings as well.
Please let me know if you have any questions. Thanks.

Hello Andy,
Here is a map that came from the NC Floodplain Mapping site. Our project is effectively an
extension of the road corridor that is seen curving in from the upper right corner of the
figure. Our crossing is well into the green (500 year floodplain) area. I had also talked
to the Summerfield NC town watershed engineer (who works for Anderson Associates) and based
on my description of the site location and his map work (we were on the phone at the time) he
told me we were not in a FEMA 100 year floodplain. Is this suitable for sourcing?
Question about the drawings you requested. We have not had the site surveyed, so we don't
have site plans of any caliber like developers or engineers might use. I can probably hand
