The length of impact (improvement) has not changed. Attached is a memo explaining the adjustments that are necessary and revised Grading and Storm Drainage Plan. The approved design proposed to remove riprap completely and replace with typical streamside plantings consisting of a combination of aquatic herbaceous vegetation along the bank toe, live stakes along the bank supplemented with permanent seeding, and then native grasses and shrubs within the created floodplain bench. During construction, it was discovered that the existing riprap layer was not merely a surface stabilization measure, but rather had been placed and buried in many layers extending several feet into each bank. Complete removal of all riprap within the bank area is not recommended as it could potentially destabilize areas outside of the stream banks. A field change is proposed and shown in the attached revised grading plan signed March 16, 2021. The revision proposes to leave some riprap stone in place, primarily along the bank toe and in some areas on the bank face. The banks will still be regraded to create the nested floodplain along the left bank and laid back to more stable slopes on the right bank.
