The inspector met with Mr. Robinson initially at their main facility on Holden Beach Road SW to review the active permit and any annual monitoring data results per the condition of the permit. Based on the review of the provided files, it does not appear that the required annual monitoring was done since the last inspection in 2014. Mr. Robinson indicated that his Aunt Elizabeth Robinson was present during the last inspection, and that he is not aware of the annual monitoring requirements. The inspector indicated to Mr. Robinson that he could coordinate with other fish houses in the vicinity, such as J. B. Robinson dba Beacon One Seafood, with sampling requirements to have samples taken by a certified lab to be analyzed with results provided. The inspector inspected the fish house located at 1079 Songbird Lane, located adjacent to the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway (AIWW). During the site visit, the inspector was provided access into the fish house by employees of Holden Beach Seafood. The entire facility is located over open water, so the packing process would result in a direct discharge into surface waters. Majority of the discharge is due to pulling water directly from the surface waters into a large conveyor tank within the fish house to rinse the shrimp after the shrimp are de -headed from a large culling table. Shrimp heads are also discharged into the surface waters below. The inspector was able to obtain a grab samples during the unloading and packing of a shrimp trawler. The grab sample was stored on ice and sent off to the Raleigh lab via courier, with the appropriate lab sheet and data to be analyzed. The inspector followed up with Mr. Robinson to let him a grab sample was taken during this site visit.
