Location: 239 Sportsman Drive, Salisbury, NC 28146 Iron Pipe 0'
Dear Ms. Baldwin:
On behalf of Mr. Doug Doreen, I have attached a site plan along with calculations of the square
footage and proposed dredging from the High Rock Reservoir as required for your approval.
Please note that Mr. Doreen has met with Mr. Robbie Cole of your office and also proposes to
construct a pier per Alcoa guidelines and for inspection by Rowan County. He has also been in
contact with his neighboring property owner and Summer Place Property Owner's Association -
and has obtained approval with all parties on the concept of this work. The proposed excavation
is adjacent to Mr. Doreen's property which is shown as Parcel 1 and 2 on the attached Summer
Place Tax Map.
The square footage of proposed disturbance is 50'X 100' which equals 5000 sf (0.115 Ac.) and is
directly beside recently completed dredging at Parcel 3 on the same Summer Place Tax Map.
The proposed work will connect to this area directly across the property line to existing elevation
topo lines established by the already completed dredging work.
The total excavation is approximately 218.5 cubic yards. i
The method of excavation will be by excavator (track hoe) and dump truck. No bulldozers will
be used. The contractor, Mr. Michael Potter of Potter's Grading and Hauling, has indicated that
work will be performed in a manner to minimize disturbance, including loading trucks directly
from the excavation. No material will be stockpiled. Work will take approximately 2 days to
perform and will be completed in an organized and proper manner. The material excavated will f
be hauled to a location approximately 1.5 miles away from the dredging site, where it will be
spread out as top soil. The disposal area is high ground elevation and is not within proximity of
any bodies of water, therefore no erosion hazard will be created.
As part of the USCOE application 8.b., no impact will be made to existing vegetation because the
area has been fully inspected and no vegetation exists in the construction area.
Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me at 336 - 309 -0498.
Sincerely,
David B. Black, PE
