Much of the upper half of the project reach is migrating laterally due to an overly wide condition and very steep riffles in the meanders. The lower half of the project is more stable overall but has localized areas of bank erosion. The objective of this design for the upper half of the project is to address the stream's dimension, pattern, and profile for the 300 feet upstream of the bridge to improve sediment transport and stop bank erosion. A series of boulder step structures will be installed to accomplish this and provide habitat. Realignment will correct overly tight meanders and improve the stream's approach to the bridge. The objective of this design for the lower half of the project is to correct localized instabilities and bank erosion through rock and log structure installation. Improved aquatic and terrestrial habitat will be a by- product. Native herbaceous and woody vegetation will be installed to provide long term stability. N.
