While reviewing the referenced permit application our staff identified some items that need clarification and/or
additional information. Please address the following items:
• There was no hydraulic conductivity, transmissivity, groundwater flow rate (velocity), or specific
yield information in the Application. Please provide this information along with an annual
groundwater flow rate in feet.
• Please provide well construction log$ for the wells to be used as injection.
• Please sample the following monitoring wells prior to injection [baseline], and 3 months, 6 months,
9 months, and 12 months after injection: IW-1, IW-3, IW-7, MW-4, MW-7, MW-8, MW-10, MW-
PT, and RW-C. Also, please collect updated groundwater elevation data from all monitoring and
injection wells on-site prior to the initial injection. The revised monitoring plan could be inserted as
a new, replacement page in the Application (Section 7).
• Please add the following parameters to the monitoring plan: temperature, dissolved carbon dioxide,
and metals per EPA 3030C.
• The cross section line on Figure 10 was omitted. Please submit a corrected Figure 10 showing wells
used in the geologic cross-section in Figure 11.
• Due the revised injectants to be used for this event (i.e., no ferrous sulfate or citric acids are to be
used), please provide updated volumes of injectants (if any) and the calculations used to justify the
amount.
• There is a reference to a bench-scale study in Section 5 of the Application (page 5-2), but was not
included. Please provide this study.
