The purpose of this letter is to request a modification to the United States Army Corps of
Engineers ( USACE) Individual Permit and North Carolina Division of Water Quality
Certification for the above referenced project The requested modification is to account for
additional temporary impacts to the project It was discovered after receipt of the permit for
the project that additional temporary stream impacts will occur due to a fill slope on the
temporary detour alignment The fill slopes at Site 13 (Permit Drawing Sheet 12 of 49) will
have to be expanded farther than in the original permit application to accommodate the
travel lane for the temporary detour This action will cause an additional 27 linear feet
( <0 01 acres) of temporary impact will occur at this site, due to the placement of a pipe The
pipe will be removed after construction is complete The additional impact has been labeled
as Site 13A on the attached permit drawings The total temporary stream impacts for the
project are now 438 linear feet (0 06 acres) There are no additional permanent impacts to
