The plant received around 4 inches of rain the wekk of Feb 13 - 19 resulting in a couple of afterhours call outs and increased flow rates through the plant. Rainfall contributed to flows over a million gallons at
times in the influent on the heavier days. In an effort to keep blankets and all other solids contained in the plant, the oxidation ditch rotors were shut off and the plant was placed in "clearwater" mode until flows
reduced enough to put the equipment back online. The plant was returned to normal operation on Monday. However, the plant had a fecal exceedance of 2420 MPN/ 100m1. Plant staff routed effluent flows to
the upset pond until the results of subsequent samples were in the permitted limits. Effluent flows were returned to normal on Wednesday Feb. 17th. The Wilmington Regional Office was notified of the rain
event and fecal violation.
