The home owner at the above address has requested the area under
his floating boat dock have the accumulated sediment removed. Over
time sediment has built up to the point that the water under the dock
is not deep enough to accommodate his boat and lift. The total
affected area of the project is approximately 30' X 30'. We will be
sloping the walls of the dredge area at a 2:1 to comply with
requirements communicated by Duke Energy. The primary area of
focus will be roughly 18' X 18'. We anticipate removing roughly 90
cubic yards of material.
The material will be removed with the Dino6 hydraulic dredging
system. This is a single step dredging process. Material will only be
handled once. The dredge head is lowered to the lake bottom where
it loosens and sediment and pumps it into filtration bags located on
the shore. The filtration bag is to be placed in a dewatering area
prepared on the owners property. The dewatering area is
constructed of a reinforced masonry retaining wall system and will be
lined with an additional layer of silt fence. The area is equipped with
multiple 6" drainage lines to carry the filtered water back to the lake.
Once dry the filtration bag will be cut away and the contents leveled
an seeded within the existing dewatering area.
We anticipate the entire project to take one week but have allowed
for two weeks to allow for inclement weather.
