Subject: Pond/stream crossing
Regarding the statement from my earlier email, the diagram from your plan (below) might
clarify my concern. Between the red is the existing dam/culvert. The pond will be drained, the
pipe extended (shown by A and B) and fill slopes constructed. There is no pond. The
utilization of headwalls and steeper slope would reduce the length of pipe required.
I was confused with the stream crossing at the pond. I assume the existing pipe through the
dam is going to be replaced and dam reworked for the new road (per the plan)? Thus part of
the reason to drained the pond to conduct this work? Given the proposal, the additional
extension of the culvert (beyond the existing culvert/dam) associated with the draining of the
pond should be included as a stream impact, not pond fill. Please provide for the amount of
pipe extension and riprap at this site.
