Mr Williams
As you are aware the Department has monitored the UT to Hickory Creek (Sites #7, #17 and

#1) since its construction in March 2005 The stream relocation sites are located in Guilford
County adjacent to the US 73 Greensboro Western Loop Sites #7 and #17 are located at Sta

of stream relocation for impacts associated with the U 2524AB project Site #28 is located at
Sta 29 +00 —40SB REV and provides 935 linear feet of stream relocation for impacts associated
with the U 2524AB project UT No 9 to Bull Run (Site #1) is located at Sta 57 +80 Lt —L and
provides 198 linear feet of stream relocation for impacts associated with the U- 2524AC project
The stream relocations were constructed and revegetated with appropriate hardwood species Per
permit requirements NCDOT was required to monitor the stream mitigation sites for channel
stability by visual observation on a biannual basis for five years or until success criteria were
met
During the monitoring period biannual monitoring reports were submitted to the appropriate
regulatory agencies via the PDEA Natural Environment Unit s (NEU) website

After five years of vegetation and stream stability monitoring the UT to Hickory Creek (Sites #7
#17 and 928) and UT No 9 to Bull Run (Site 91) stream relocations indicate that the planted
vegetation is surviving and the streambanks remain stable at this time Individual biannual
monitoring reports are available on NEU s website for 2006 2010
A site visit was conducted to all sites on August 2nd 2011 with the regulatory agencies and
NCDOT personnel present It was determined at that meeting that the site success criteria had
been met and that no further monitoring would be required NCDOT requests that the
appropriate resource agencies provide documentation stating that no further monitoring is
required and that these sites are closed If you have any questions about this project please
