Town of Columbus Bio Solids Removal Plan

Basin
Check Sludge level in the basin every two years. And have basin dredged as needed expect every ten to
fifteen years. Keep check on basin weir for good flow and clean as needed.

Clarifiers
Clarifiers weirs and overflow channel need to be washed down every week. Use scrub brush and water
hose.
Contact Chamber
Contact Chamber needs to be pumped down and cleaned every quarterly or as needed.

Digester and Sludge
To keep plenty of room in the digester the sludge is put in to geo-bags in roll off dumpsters. Let the
runoff ofrom the dumpsters drain back into the RAS pit. When geo-bags are dry they are hauled away in
the dumpsters to the land fill in South Carolina. As a back up we are going to keep the contract with
Synagro for land application in the Edwards field. By using the land app in the spring of 2021 and starting
the geo-bag method with a clean digester.
