This is not a construction project. Rather, as I understand it, there is a culvert under the road near the base of the erosion that is buried on the outlet end (see culvert location pdf). Some maintenance folks tried to open the outlet awhile back with some minor excavation because water was backing up on the other side of the road. Then recent heavy rains blew out part of a fill slope that is next to the stream. Anyway, I wanted you to be aware of this problem and that we are working on it. We have since stemmed, at least for now, the erosion and will ultimately probably be looking at doing a culvert replacement after getting a permit (the location is <0.5 mile from Tuckaseegee River).
