Dear Mr. Lopez
This letter is to inform the Fayetteville Regional Office of problems we are
currently having with our 90 ft circular clarifier and actions we are taking to
prevent these problems from becoming potential permit violations. Due to either'
mechanical or hydraulic underloading of the clarifier we are unable to return our
activated sludge back into aeration. At the present time we have personnel
manually removing sludge from clarifier with hoses and pump. We are in the
process of renting two weir tanks designed for clarification of waste water. We
hope to have tanks on site and installed Monday 27th of Tuesday 28th until this
time manual pumping of the clarifier will continue. When tanks are installed we
will begin to take down our"90ft clarifier and determine options as to what can be
done. At this time we are unable to accurately pin point a completion date as we
are unsure to what level repairs or retrofitting of existing clarifier will need to be.
We are hopeful that all can be done within a two month period. If more time is
needed we will contact Fayetteville Regional Office•as soon as this information is
known. If we feel at any time this issue will become a compliance problem FRO
will be notified immediately.

Finding E: Gel standard had been verified after annual curve but was not included in
Log Books. A copy of the verification has been included. Benchsheets have been revised
to reflect these values. Copies of our benchsheets are included with revisions
highlighted in pink.

Clarifier Outage
Dear Mr. Lopez:
This letter is to notify the Fayetteville Regional Office of problems we are currently having
with our 90-foot circular clarifier and actions we are taking to prevent these problems from
becoming permit violations. Due to either mechanical difficulties or hydraulic underloading
of the clarifier, we are unable to return activated sludge to the aeration basin.
At the present time we have personnel manually removing sludge from the clarifier with
hoses and a pump. We plan to provide temporary clarification by renting two weir tanks de-
signed for the clarification of wastewater. These units will be operational either Monday,
April27th or Tuesday, April28th. After the temporary clarifiers are installed we will take
down our 90-foot clarifier and, based on that internal inspection, determine how to proceed.
We anticipate that the repairs and/or modifications can be done within two months. If more
time is needed, we will contact Fayetteville Regional Office as soon as this information is
known. If we feel at any time that this issue will become a compliance problem FRO will be
notified immediately. We will also notify you when the clarifier is returned to service and
the temporary clarifiers are removed. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call
